St Mary’s Rosary Altar Society
The primary purpose of the Rosary Altar Society is “to praise and honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and to secure her patronage by the recitation of the Rosary for the mutual spiritual benefit of all the members throughout the world”.
“The only obligation on the members of the Society … is to recite the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary … once a week.”
Additional recommended exercises for a member:
Attendance on the first Sunday of every month (Communion Sunday) with 8:00 AM recitation of the Rosary and 8:30 AM Mass.
Attendance at monthly meetings held on the fourth Tuesday of a nine month period (Sept thru May) with 6:30 PM recitation of the Rosary and 7:00 PM meeting with refreshments following. There are no meetings during the summer months of June, July and August.
All members are encouraged to:
Help with the laundry of altar linens and the dusting/carpet vacuuming of the main altar. Each member is paired with another member and given a scheduled date for each duty; usually at three month intervals.
Participate in our two bake sales held in March and November. This is our main source of revenue for our Treasury; so all members are asked to bake or give a donation in lieu thereof.
Pay the $2.00 annual membership dues at the January meeting.
Help in the collecting of donations for Christmas and Easter flowers, which is done after all Masses on a designated Sunday. Each member is welcome to help in the arranging of these flowers on the altar.
Participate in recitation of the Rosary and one hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel after the 7:00 PM Mass on Holy Thursday.
We receive new members into the society in October. We continually ask Our Blessed Mother to send us a few “Good Women” to continue our work to care for Her Son`s Altar. We hope YOU will consider joining us.
